FOTD: Clarins Extra-Comfort Foundation

Today I put my Clarins Extra-Comfort Foundation on my entire face. I found the finish and texture are very similar to Clarins Everlasting Foundation. It has a medium to full coverage, the lasting power is superb--for more than 9 hours, and the texture is creamy and easy to blend. So far I do not see any different between Extra-Comfort and Everlasting Foundation. But it's 15 dollar more expensive than Everlasting foundation!! Maybe it's because of the anti-ageing formula which makes it so expensive. Will keep trying my new Extra-Comfort foundation and see.

FOTD: Chanel perfection lumiere vs Clarins Everlasting foundation

Today's foundations to test are Chanel Perfection Lumiere and Clarins Everlasting Foundation. The former one is on my left face while the latter is on my right face.

Clarins still performs very well. It is the best foundation so far I have. Beautiful finish. Flawless look without looking matte or dull. It last long day with spf 15 mineral sunscreen.

However Chanel is really far from 'perfection'. I have tried so many foundations and I do not think this foundation deserves the hype. Yes it is a quality foundation, but it does not perform as it claims. The coverage is maximum to light medium. The staying power is not bad but not as good as Clarins. The packaging is as elegant as always. The scent is classic and sweet. But except the scent and the packaging, I do not see anything superb in this foundation.

Overall, Clarins Everlasting foundation is still the best in terms of coverage, staying power, and beautiful finish.

I may find a dupe for Cle de Peau loose powder (old)

I love the old Cle de Peau loose powder which was stored in a square shaped box. It had a very beautiful lavender (or pink) tone with some very fine shimmers which makes your skin look luminous but not shine. It was not dry at all. I believe that powder suits everybody since it does not have the same dull white matte look as the new version. Unfortunately the old loose powder was discontinued about 4 years ago and the price has become more and more expensive.

Clarins has released new loose powder this year and the packaging is a lot better than CdP. It was much easier to control  how much to use  and the jar looks elegant. It comes with a quality puff, but not as thick and soft as CdP (remember we have to pay extra money for CdP puff).

The new loose powder from Clarins reminds me a lot of the old CdP loose powder. Actually I think it is much better than CdP. The package is better and the finish is more beautiful and the lasting power is better. The price of Clarins loose powder is reasonable ($47 for 30 g) comparing to CdP which retails for more than $125 CAD.

So far the only con I find with Clarins is that the powder has the same light scent as its everlasting powder which I am not fond of. Otherwise it's a fantastic powder with a reasonable price.

FOTD: Clarins Everlasting foundation vs Dior Forever Flawless Fusion foundation

Today I wore Clarins Everlasting foundation #105 on my right face while Dior #21 on the left face.

Dior Forever is almost a shade darker than my Clarins Everlasting foundation. After I set with my Clarins loose powder everything looks ok on my face. I feel Clarins is more hydrating while Dior Forever is a little bit dryer.

Both of them claim to be long wearing and have medium to full coverage. To me Dior Forever is slightly more matte than Clarins Everlasting.

Dior Forever did not look as beautiful as Clarins when first applied. But after hours of wearing Dior, it started looking not as matte as before. Actually I could not detect the difference between the two after 6 hours of wearing them if I did not remember which foundation I wore on which face.

FOTD: Clarins Everlasting Foundation

The foundation I am investigating today is Clarins Everlasting Foundation. It is one of the best foundations I have in my opinion. 

My skin is not in its best condition since I have a period pimple on my right cheek and the face is slightly drier than normal because I did not sleep well. 

Before I apply this foundation, I put Dior hydra life cream and Olay complete sensitive skin Spf 30 moisturizer, then I apply Clarins Everlasting Foundation with my finger. Since it's so creamy, it's very easy to blend into skin. I feel it is one of the foundations that help skin to achieve porcelain skin in a fastest and easiest way. The finish is also beautiful, not matte not flat at all, but covers very well. It is one of the very few foundations does not dry out my under eye. The lasting power is also great, it's the 10 th hour I am wearing it (I finished my makeup at 7:00) and still it looks so perfect. 

I am very pleased with the foundation today because it performs so well even in my bad skin day. 

Review: Clarins Daily Energizer WakeUp Booster

Toners have many nicknames. Cosmetic companies call them lotion, softener, and booster......

This wakeup booster is supposed to be a morning toner. But of course I do not use it in the morning only.

It claims to enhance skin radiance. Since the toner is hydrating, it makes me feel that my complexion is radiant and luminous.

 

Clarins is famous for plant extracts ingredients, and this is no exception. I am not sure if there's any natural ingredients there, but I can be sure that there's artificial smell in almost all Clarins' products.

 

I prefer fragrance free products in general. But this smell does not bother me that much.  It does not break me out but make my skin healthy and hydrating.

 

This is a rather cheaper department store toner. It retails at $15 CAD plus tax for 125 ml. Very good value. Because some drugstore toner can cost this much or even more ( if you buy toners at shoppers.) ......

 

Clarins uv plus hp multi-protection spf 40--dupe for Chanel sunscreen

It's the dupe for Chanel sunscreen. A lot cheaper than other department sunscreens who have only 30ml available. Not the cheapest choice of course. It retails at $40 CAD plus tax for 50 ml.

It's a very light liquid sunscreen, much lighter than Chanel's. It reminds me some Japanese sunscreens. I cannot say it's not hydrating in the winter time, but it can be slightly dry for me in very cold days. So I always put a lot of cream before applying for this sunscreen. But it works wonders in the summer time.

To my surprise, it holds my powder foundation as good as Chanel's sun screen. The powder foundations stay very well over 6 hours without touch ups.

Though it has scent in it, it never breaks me out.  I have been using more than 5 bottles of this sunscreen and will keep using it until I find a better and cheaper dupe--a sunscreen that can protect my skin from UV rays and hold my powder foundation well.

Chanel UV essentiel spf 50

This sunscreen retails at $57 CAD plus tax for 30 ml only, it is probably the most expensive sunscreen I have ever had.

The sunscreen is in a light liquid formula, yet not drying for my skin. I can wear it in the winter time without feeling uncomfortable. It has the most beautiful scent in it. It's with white cast, but once I put powder over it, it's disappears.

I like the feeling with this sunscreen on my skin. But it's too expensive. Clarins UV plus is the dupe for it.

Review: CLARINS Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick

The color I got was #16 pink coral. It is one of the best lipstick I have ever had.

The lipstick is as hydrating as lipbalms. It has a sweet fruity scent.

What I like the most is the color. It's just like my lip color, but better. The shimmer in it makes my lip looks as healthy and glossy as a baby's lips.

The price is average department store price, around $27 plus tax.

Review: Clarins everlasting compact foundation spf 15

Clarins is famous for its body products, and its cosmetics seem to be less known by the public. If I am not a powder foundation junkie and always look for new items to try, I probably will not notice that Clarins has powder foundation.

 

If memory serves me right, it was released in 2011. The price was around $34, and the price rises up to $38 CAD plus tax this year.

There are 4 shades available in Canada. The lightest shade, 105 nude, seems to be slightly darker and more pink than my skin tone.

The active ingredient of this powder foundation is 3% of titanium oxide. The physical sun screen protection can be good to everyone. However the powder has slight scent to it, which I am not fond of.

 

The powder has an ultra-fine and silky-soft texture though it’s not as creamy as Diorskin flawless compact. Like all high end powder foundation, the powder is so finely milled that you can glide your finger on the pan smoothly and pick the right amount of powder on your finger.

Almost all powder foundation can be used both wet and dry. I personally do not apply powder foundations on skin with wet sponge, rather, I prefer to use brushes to apply.

The powder foundation offers medium to full coverage. It really gives me a flawless look. When first applied on, it looks very matte. After about 3 hours of applying it, it comes with some luminous finish, but the finish is still matte and well-made look. It looks like that you have been spending more than one hour on your makeup, but actually you just apply one layer of powder foundation.

It’s not a hydrating powder foundation to me, but it’s not dry either. It last quite long to me--up to 6 hours. I have never tried to wear any makeup up to 15 hours, so I cannot say if it really lasts that long. But it is definitely a long lasting powder.

If you have to prepare yourself for an important party or meeting in a short time with flawless skin look, the everlasting compact powder foundation can be your best choice. With its slightly dry texture, I would recommend it to normal to combination to oily skin.
