Review: Estee Lauder ESTEE LAUDER Futurist Age Resisting Makeup

I have been owning this foundation for more than 2 years. I recently rediscovered it from my drawer. This foundation is probably one of the foundations live up to what they claim.

The foundation is with SPF 15 and the active ingredient is octinxate.
The shade I got was soft ivory. It is a bit darker and pinkier than my skin tone. But once I blend it well it look OK on my skin. The shade is close to Japanese OC 10 shade.

The foundation is light on the skin. It's silky and liquid-y but not runny. You feel you are wearing moisturizer instead of foundation.

The foundation is super easy to blend, I applied this foundation with my fingers and it looks even on the skin.

The coverage is very good, it's medium to full coverage. The finish is not as matte as double wear. It's full coverage with luminous finish, which I like so much.

When first applied on the skin, it does not look as beautiful as other foundations. But as time goes by, the finish become more and more beautiful. It does not transfer and the lasting power is superb.

it does not settle into crease

If you dislike the disadvantages of EL Double Wear but love its staying power and superb coverage, you can give this foundation a try. The foundation has a pump (which DW has not), it contains SPF 15 (DW has only spf 10, and it looks like the new formula has none at all), it is light and easy to blend (DW is harder to blend), it does not settle into crease (DW is too dry for my under eye area), and the finish is flawless and natural radiant.

The cons of Estee lauder double wear or Revlon colorstay --how to improve and make your own

Estee lauder double wear and Revlon colorstay liquid are famous for their long staying power and great coverage. However these two foundations are not so appealing to me.

Firstly, I dislike their package without pump. I do not why, estee lauder is such a high end cosmetic company and a jar of 30ml liquid foundation costs $42 CAD plus tax, and they cannot even offer a pump for the most famous double wear? Revlon is also a high end drugstore liquid foundation which costs $16,99 CAD or sometimes 19,99 at shoppers, also offers no pump for its foundation.

Secondly, though the coverage is great, the finish is too matte. Don't get me wrong, I like matte finish foundation. But there are so many good powder foundation offers totally matte finish with great coverage (you guys know how many powder foundations I have tried), why should I spend so much time pouring the liquid out from a jar to make everything messy and  blending the foundation and set with loose powder? With powder foundation I just apply it and stipple it into my skin in a minutes and everything is done! They also look flawless on my skin and they are extreme long wear! No with the same effect, I do not want to spend extra time for that!

Third, there's no good spf in the liquid both liquid foundations. I know in the US revlon colorstay has spf 15 for dry skin and spf 6 for oily skin, but there's no spf for Canadians. Also, the double wear has only spf 10 on it. To me spf 10 means there's no sun protection at all because you can get minimal protection from sun by wearing spf 15. I just went to EL counter last week and found the newer version has no spf at all! Some people may say that spf leaves white cast on the flash photo, but personally I dislike flash photo so it is not a big problem for me.

Fourth, they seem to me too dry for my skin. I don't know why, but it seems that good powder foundations can even offer some moisture on the skin. They will not even sit on the fine lines under eyes. I have one old version el double wear, it really offers good coverage. But it seem to be too dry for me. It accentuate my fine line under eye which I dislike at all.

I know how people love el and revlon foundations, but they are just not for me. Therefore I decided to make my own "better version of double wear and colorstay", please read the next article.

Review: Estee Lauder Perfectionist CP+R serum

(image from esteelauder.com)

This serum is supposed to do something for people with wrinkles. I am in my 20s and do not have wrinkles, but I like to try any product anti-ageing.

Actually I am little bit disappointed with this product. It's so expensive. It retails at $110 for 50 ml. Basically it did nothing on my skin.

It has some light waxy texture to it and with a silicone feel, which I feel it's more for makeup products not for skincare. I suppose it is the texture that blurs lines so that people feel it works dramatically and instantly to reduce lines.

In my view, any cosmetic effect in skincare products is cheating. This serum is simply a primer with fancy skin care ingredients to me.

Review: ESTEE LAUDER Double Wear StayinPlace Powder Makeup SPF 10

Double Wear StayinPlace Powder Makeup SPF 10_1(photo from thebay.com)

Comparing to other higher end powder foundation I owned, this is an OK product.

The coverage can be built up to full, the staying power is more than 8 hours and it does not change colour.

However I found it is a little bit dry for my skin during cold weather.

Sadly, there's only SPF 10 in this powder, and there's no refill available.

For $45 CAD plus tax, I can find a better dupe in the department store such as Clarins everlasting compact SPF 15 or Shiseido sun powder SPF 35.

Dupe for Estee Lauder ESTEE LAUDER Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex- New ESTEE LAUDER Nutritious Radiant Vitality Energy Lotion review

Nutritious Radiant Vitality Energy Lotion_1(photo credit to thebay.com)

This is the dupe for EL advanced night repair serum. In fact, it's much better than it.

Let's compare the price first, the EL advanced night repair serum is $96 CAD plus tax for 50ml while this nutritious lotion retails at $55 for 200ml.

You may say it's not fair to compare a serum to a lotion (toner). But to me they work in a similar way.

This nutritious lotion claims to infuses skin with  moisture and energy for a look of radiant vitality. It does help my skin look radiant. I usually put it on before sleep, next day I wake up with hydrated, refined glowy skin.

It's a real high-performance treatment lotion that works like serum. The texture is similar to advanced night repair serum, but less thicker than it. To my surprise, I only need 2 drop of it to put on my skin while with the night repair serum, I usually put more than 3 drops of it.

The first after I bought it, I use only drops of this lotion after washing my face. My skin did not feel tight even I did not put the moisturiser on immediately. It can stay more than 20 minutes on my skin alone without making my skin feel dry.

I have not finish this bottle yet and I believe it can stay quite long time if I use it as a serum. Will update later and say how long does it take for me to finish this 200 ml serum like lotion.

Estee lauder day wear bb multi-perfecting beauty benefit cream spf 35

DayWear MultiPerfecting Beauty Benefit Creme SPF 35_1(photo credit to thebay.com)

This cream retails at $45 CAD plus tax for only 30 ml, quite expensive!

I normally do not use liquid foundation or BB cream as my makeup. I use this cream as a sunscreen.

This cream has a slight cucumber scent, which I am not fond of. But the cream is more hydrating than other sunscreens. I use it in cold winter, and it does not make my skin dry or tight. SPF 35 is more than enough to protect our skin from UV rays in winter time--if you do not ski.

I got the cream in light colour, which is the lightest shade available. However the shade is slightly darker than my skin tone (nc20). The coverage is quite good, it evens out skin and covers some imperfections.

All in all, it's a nice sunscreen for dry skin. It's for people want to skip the foundation step while having some coverage on the skin. I wish it could be fragrance-free and have one shade lighter available.
